What to Expect on Test Day
Arrival:
Please arrive at the test centre on time with your passport or PR card (same ID used for registration). Please refer to your booking confirmation email for details. Late arrivals will not be able to write the test.
Coat Check:
We will check your coat and your personal belongings (including wallets, purses, cell phones, watches, dictionaries, laptops, cosmetics, etc.) All coats and personal belongings will be stored in a secure room; however, we recommend you leave your valuables at home. Your belongings will be returned to you once you have completed the examinations.
Registration – Finger Scan and Photograph:
We will check your passport or PR card, scan your finger, and take a photograph of you for registration and security measures. For more information on why we take your photo and finger scan, please read this pamphlet.
Going to your Test Room:
You will be appointed to the room you will be taking your test in. There are no breaks during the test so please use the washroom before you enter your test room. After you enter your test room, a staff person will show you to your desk where you will be seated. You will see your appointed speaking test time on your desk label.
During the Test
The test is approximately 3 hours long. There will be a staff person in the room who will be guiding you through the procedures of the test. The order of the test is listening, reading, and then writing, all in one sitting.
After the Test
After the test, you will be let out of the test room and you will be able to retrieve your coat and belongings. You may wait around in our waiting room or you may leave and come back 45 minutes before your speaking test starts. We advise all our test takers to arrive 45 minutes before their Speaking Test time.
Taking the Speaking Test
Please check in at registration 45 minutes before your Speaking Test time. We will check your coats and belongings and scan your finger again. You will be appointed a test room where you will take the Speaking Test. The Speaking Test is usually scheduled from 12:40 PM – 9:00 PM.
After the Speaking Test
You are free to pick up your belongings and leave. If you have to wait around for a ride, we welcome you in the lobby downstairs. The test results will be available for viewing 13 days after the test (Paper-based), and 5 to 7 days for (Computer-based)
Absent on Test Day
If a candidate is absent on the day of the test, or if a candidate does not have their ID with them on the day of the test, the candidate will lose the full test fee and must re-apply.
Late Arrival on Test Day
No refund or transfer is given to candidates who arrive late for their test.
